Mer HEARTS is all about things that I love. The idea originates from a fundraiser that a girl scout troop did for me three years ago to help raise money for Sami. It was called the Great Woof Lodge, and it was an incredible event that not only raised money, but made me realize how much the people in my community cared about me. Everyone wore I HEART Mer t-shirts (designed by my friend David), and it made me feel....well...loved.
So now, I'm turning that around. Mer HEARTS will be a way for me to support people or causes that I care about in some way. It will also be a way for me to share things that I love...be on the lookout for my baking blog!
Mer Hearts Education about Pediatric Pain (and Dr. Chopra)
One of things I have learned since being diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome is that many doctors don't know a lot about rare diseases. Because of this, education of the caregiver community is really important so people everywhere with rare diseases can receive the help they need.
I'm happy to be able to support one of my favorite doctors, Dr. Chopra as he speaks about complex chronic pain in children at Children's Hospital Orange County (CHOC). I'll be helping by setting up registration for this event on my website and creating marketing materials for CHOP to promote the event.
I heart Dr. Chopra and education about pediatric pain!
